It is a truth universally acknowledged
that a lady can do anything a man can do:
backwards and in high-heeled dancing slippers.

Lady Juliana, daughter of the Earl of St. Maur, needs all the help she can get. She’s running a ramshackle orphanage, London’s worst slumlord has illicit designs on her, and her father has suddenly become determined to marry her off.

Enter Major Neil Wraxall, bastard son of the Marquess of Kensington, sent to assist Lady Juliana in any way he can. Lucky for her, he’s handy with repairs, knows how to keep her and the orphans safe, and is a natural leader of men.

Unfortunately for both of them, the scandal that ensues from their mutual attraction is going to lead them a merry dance…

I love the hero! Neil, any woman who doesn’t fall in love with him, needs therapy! He is struggling with PTSD, after suicide missions during the Napoleonic War. He is the illegitimate son of a Marquess, acknowledged, but not loved. His father hands him jobs go to, being a soldier, he carries his missions out! His father, and the Earl of St. Maur , very close friends, have a new mission for him, bring the Earl’s daughter home! The biggest problem is, she is totally an Earl’s daughter! She is running an Orphanage, not helping, running it, daily, she spends nights there, in Spitalfields, the very dangerous part of London. Neil figures this will take one afternoon, gather her up, take her home. He did not count on a house full of little boys, roof leaking all over the place, general chaos. Nor, did he count on meeting the most beautiful woman, that he had ever seen! Love the story, love the children, love his witty friends! I love what one of them said, “The two of them together, were too pretty go look at”! Love that!
I highly recommend! Thanks! Enjoy!

The reclusive Duke of Redhaven is not somebody to be trifled with.

Fortunately, neither is Miss Angelica Stirling.

Lively, clever, and rather too outspoken, Angelica does not have high hopes for her first London Season… not that she particularly cares. Who needs a husband when you have a good book?

When she receives a surprise proposal from Edward Thorne, Duke of Redhaven, it seems too good to be true. And it is.

The Duke is handsome, mysterious, and brooding – and everything Angelica doesn’t want in a husband. Is one of the biggest fortunes in England really worth the trouble?

Edward returns to London after a decade’s self-imposed exile in need of one thing: a bride. But his strategy of proposing to the first agreeable-looking girl he meets backfires spectacularly. Angelica is anything but the docile debutante he took her for.

Before long, Edward is facing a predicament he never imagined. Angelica has run away from London – and she’s taken his heart with her.

This is a great, clean, historical romance, with villainy of course! Edward Thorne, Duke of Redhaven, has been living as a recluse for ten years. Some people believe it is because he injured a man in a duel, simply for wanting to marry his sister. They also believe that he murdered his sister. How the ton loves to gossip! He has realized he must take a bride, in order to have an heir. Of course, the next in line, with the most to gain, is our villain, his first cousin. Now, residing in his ducal home in London, his only friend from Eton, is there to fulfill his curiosity, The Earl Of Lathkill, cannot imagine what would bring his very reclusive friend to town.

Isabel Stirling, the youngest of two daughters, of a very wealthy merchant, is prepaing for her come-out ball. She would be much more excited, except, she is reading a book? The real cause is that her lovely, sweet sister Lily, is too ill to come down to be with her. However, Lily talks their very sweet Mother in allowing her to sit during the ball. Who do we think shows up to the ball? Yes indeed, the reclusive, non talkative, murderous duke! He ask to dance with Isabel, believing her to be quiet, and biddable, to his regret, after the damage is done, he finds out, she is an extreme expressive. It is a good light read, after a stressful day. I think Miss Blackwood is getting better with each book!

I recommend! Thanks! Enjoy!

I love this series of the Ravens, and Sinclair’s, the legend goes back to the 1300 hundred, when the a Sinclair saves The Duke of Raven, henceforth, by order of the King, they were to become protectors of all future Ravens. The legend still holds, in England in 1816.

The current Duke of Raven is married to a Sinclair, as is his half-brother, Max. The entire family lives on a block in the City of London. The older Sinclair’s take care of their  younger brother, and twin sisters. They are so precious, you truly wish that you too, could be in this close family.

The Duke of Raven, James, had not long ago found a half-sister, born on the wrong side of the blanket, Emily. She has so many secrets that she continues to hold onto, in spite of the love , her brother has shown her. Emily is grateful, she is loving toward the families, except for Cambridge, Cam, to his family. They argue every time they are in the same room together.

This is witty, loving, a bit of danger, that could devastate the two families, before it has time to begin. I am a huge Wendy Vella fan, because of heart warming books, just like this one.

I highly Recommend! Thanks! Enjoy!

The Earl Of Pembroke, James, meets a lovely young lady while taking his younger sister to the modiste.  She is Gillian Beaumont, daughter of an Earl, the only problem is, and it is a huge problem, she is the illegitimate daughter, her Mother was his Mistress, after his wife died. While he was alive, he was a good, loving father, now, he, and her Mother are dead. To earn a living, she goes to work as a Lady’s maid to The Honorable Audrey Sheridan, sister, and daughter of a Viscount. Miss Audrey constantly finds herself in danger, and Gillian, is the one, who knows her secrets, and goes to her rescue.

The Earl of Pembroke has only met her that morning, we have love at first sight. He already can tell that she is in trouble, and off to her rescue he goes. This is a sweet, not clean but not overtly sexual story. I am deducting one Pearl, for the use of giggling, I truly despise describing a grown young woman’s laughter, as giggles! I am also deducting one half Pearl, for having sex, on the first day that they meet! It is a light read.

I thought this was going to be a great adventure, with Emma, running away from her Uncle, and cousin, who are out to murder her! They have mistakenly murdered her ladies maid, now, she is on the run! She has run straight into the arms of the first Wicked Earl, that is truly wicked!

With her Uncle, and cousin , still on the grounds of the Manor, where she has escaped with her maid’s blood, still on her clothes. Begins the soft porn , disgusting book, that I could not, will not read, I cannot believe that I have paid money for t this , I need a bath book! If they had known each other longer than thirty minutes, if she wasn’t trembling with fear, running for her life, if he wasn’t in a hurry to get to Scottland to save his mother,  nope, none of it makes any sense, except to sell sex! This is by far, the worse book that I have had the misfortune to read, this year! Now, if you will excuse me, I need a shower, and something to cleanse my mind. If you want to write porn, then please label it as such! I would have saved my money, and my blood pressure!

I do not recommend! Thanks! Carolintallahassee

Burned by her traitorous heart again and again, Cass has determined her life will include only what she can control—and has made her work as the proud proprietress of the Revelry’s Tempest gaming hall her sole mission.

A reluctant viscount.
Inheriting an English title was not something American Rorrick Trowlson wanted in life, nor was the mess that came with the estate. His brother’s mess. A mess he now has to clean up. But to do so, he needs a tract of land his brother flippantly lost in a stupid bet at the Revelry’s Tempest.

A past that needs to be righted.

This is a series, and it is Lady Cassandra’s turn. She has had a miserable marriage to a childhood friend, Lord Percival, who leaves her after one night of marriage. Considering her low self-esteem, she was easily taken in by the next man. Now, Lord Rorrick Trowlson has come to London from America to take over his late brother’s estate. He needs some land back that his brother gambled away. In order to get it, he meets the owner of The Revelary’s gaming hell, who just happens to be Lady Cassandra. Being a brash, honest American, he assumes, Cass is a prostitute, now to undo the damage.

This story is the redemption of Lady Cassandra, and the Risk Rorrick must take, to make his future worth living. I personally love Rorrick, he is always optimistic, humble, and a man!

Yet when the Duke of Ware proposes a scandalous wager that’s too extravagant to refuse, she can’t resist. If she wins, she’ll get five thousand pounds, enough to secure her independence forever.

Stays at the Vega Club . . .

Jack Lindeville, Duke of Ware, tells himself he’s at the Vega Club merely to save his reckless brother from losing everything, but he knows it’s a lie. He can’t keep his eyes off Sophie, and to get her he breaks his ironclad rule against gambling. If he wins, he wants her—for a week.

Until now.

A week with Jack could ruin what’s left of Sophie’s reputation. It might even cost her her heart. But when it comes to love, all bets are off . . .

review pearlreview pearlreview pearlreview pearlhalf review pearl

I love this story! I like Jack, The Duke of Ware, who is stuffy, works hard, keeps his estates running smoothly, keeps everyone fed, clothed, housed, and tries to keep his Mother happy, his younger brother from ruining himself, and the Title from going bankrupt! His brother Phillip, has racked up a 2 thousand pound debt at Vega, a very exclusive gaming club, that allows ladies, not lightskirts, ladies who wish to gamble.

There is one lady in particular, Mrs. Sophie Campbell! She lost her parents, when she was 12, they were a love match! Her father was the oldest son of a wealthy Viscount, her grandfather disowned him, for marrying her French Mother, who happened to be a famous Opera Singer. The three of them traveled the European Continent, and were a very happy family. Then came, in our terms, probably a vicious flu, which killed both of her parents.  Her fathers will  made her Grandfather, the Viscount, her guardian. He wanted nothing to do with her, so, he enrolled her in the most prestigious school for young girls of the ton, or parents, who were wealthy cit. While at school, she made lifelong friends with Eliza, whose father was a wealthy merchant, and Lady Georgiana.

The only way Sophie knew how to make money, to support herself, was playing cards. Her grandfather had cut her off, the minute that she graduated from school. Her father had taught her how to play cards, she also had a good head for math. Sophie’s goal was to make ten thousand dollars, look for a husband, who would not cheat on her, or gamble their money away. She had a plan, and was determined to stick with it!

One night while playing cards, Lord Phillip, the Duke of Ware’s younger brother continued to make a nuisance of himself, Sophie was embarrassed, and becoming angry. She decides to play hazard, something she never played, she knew however, that Philip would lose, and hopefully leave her alone. In walks the most handsome man that she had ever seen, he was angry, and basically called her out for fleecing his younger brother. The Duke of Ware himself, looking like nothing his brother had described. This is where the great story begins!

I don’t like giving away spoilers, however, the one problem I have with the book is, she has never been married, she does eventually tell the Duke this. What I think is strange, she is not a virgin, and they never discussed it! This did ruin Sophie’s personality for me. That, and they never discuss it! I did deduct a Pearl for that. Otherwise, I cannot wait until the next one, in this series!

I Highly Recommend! Thanks! Enjoy!
