I absolutely love this book. The new Duke of Darrington, Declan, considered a Mulatto, his father’s second wife was a beautiful, kind, young lady, Declan’s Mother. He was the second son, his nearest neighbors, were a Powerful, bitter, Earl’s twins, Finley, and Lady Alethea. Now, after 12 years of building up his Sugarcane Empire, he has returned, upon finding his brother, Albert, the Duke, is dead. Declan is determined to find out how he died. The Earl has warned his grown children to stay away from the new Duke, alluding to an unsubstantiated rumor, that he has been involved with privateering! This is the problem between the Twins, and Declan, his father was accused of Swindle, put a gun into his mouth, and killed himself. Yet, at the time his partner was the Earl! Lady Alethea loves her father, what, and who will she chose to believe, once she recognizes her feelings for Declan?
